Making it easier to adjust your Brighter Super Income Protection insurance  

Brighter Super has arranged with our Insurer, Zurich Australia Limited, to offer eligible members a one-off offer to reduce your 395 day waiting period to a 90 day waiting period without needing to provide medical evidence to prove you are in good health. Eligible members have 30 days from receiving the communication to opt in to the offer.

How to reduce your waiting-period

If you are an eligible member and would like to reduce your waiting period to 90 days, please complete the Change waiting period form – Local Government & Associated Industries available below and send it back to us within 30 days of the date on letter or the date the email was received.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to provide any further information

No – if you opt in to the offer, you are only required to provide details to identify your account, including full name, member number and account number. To take up the offer, you need to complete the ‘At Work’ declaration.

Will reducing my waiting period increase my premiums?

Yes – if you opt in to the offer you will pay the premium rates for a 90 day waiting period. The communication you received included the estimated monthly premium amount, calculated as your monthly insured benefit divided by 100, multiplied by the premium rate (based on age, gender and occupation).

When does my waiting period commence?

Your benefit will start from the latter of the cessation of your receipt of sick leave from your employer. Benefit payments are not paid for the waiting period.
