Award-winning support helps you make more confident retirement decisions

14 July 2026

Brighter Super has been recognised with multiple independent industry awards this year, reflecting our commitment to helping every one of our 348,000 members achieve a better retirement.

Among these were three significant accolades from Chant West, recognising the support, guidance and advice we provide to help members make more confident decisions about their super and retirement.

Chief Member Officer, Lisa Kay, said the awards recognise Brighter Super’s long-standing focus on helping members feel informed and supported throughout their retirement journey.

“These accolades recognise our commitment to helping members access the right support at every stage of their journey to retirement. Whether you’re just starting out, preparing to retire or already enjoying retirement, we want you to feel confident about the decisions you make.”

Winner: Best Fund – Advice Services

After three consecutive years as a finalist, we were thrilled to win Best Fund: Advice Services1 at the 2026 Chant West Super Fund Awards on 27 May.

Chant West’s General Manager, Ian Fryer, said the award reflects Brighter Super’s ability to support members with a broad range of advice needs.

“This year, judges put an emphasis on the advice provided at the point of retirement, and advice that addressed the varying needs of members, from simple to really complex. Brighter Super stood out because it does this well and in a cost-effective way.”

“The right investments are critical,” he said, “but members also need to make well-informed decisions at key times. We liked Brighter Super’s personalised approach, asking questions like: What’s your situation? What sort of help do you need? What questions do you have?”

Ms Kay said the award reflects Brighter Super’s belief that advice should be more accessible and affordable for all members.

“Every member’s circumstances are different, so it’s important they can access support that’s appropriate for their needs. For some, that’s general guidance about their super. For others, it may be more comprehensive retirement advice or a referral to a specialist adviser. Our focus is making sure members can access the right help at the right time.”

Brighter Super offers advice at several important stages of your super journey. During pre-retirement, while you’re still building your super, you can access super and retirement health checks or general advice about your super at no additional cost. This is a helpful starting point to understand your super and retirement goals, and the steps you can take to achieve better retirement outcomes.

If you're approaching or at retirement, you can access a Retirement Advice Plan for a fixed fee of $990, which may be payable from your super. For an additional $500, you can include your partner, recognising that retirement is often a household decision. This can help you decide how to invest your retirement savings, how much you may be able to draw from your super, and whether you may be eligible for the Age Pension.

“Not many funds offer these options,” Mr Fryer said, “and we think it’s excellent value.”

If your needs are more complex, such as investment properties or broader estate planning, Brighter Super can connect you with a specialist external advice partner. An advice support team, available in person and over the phone, will then guide you to the right level of support for your situation.

What members can access

Epic Retirement Tick

In 2025, Brighter Super was one of only six Australian super funds to receive Chant West’s Epic Retirement Tick2, which recognises funds that genuinely support members as they move into and through retirement. This includes helping members understand how their savings can be drawn down and managed once they stop working, not just while they’re building their super.

Mr Fryer noted that the quality of Brighter Super’s retirement advice was central to this award. “A lot of funds don’t provide this advice,” he said. “Brighter Super does, and it’s nimble. It’s also introduced a lot of really good changes to product and service in the past few years that are very helpful to members.”

This recognition shows that, whether you’re several years from retirement or ready to retire, Brighter Super is focused on making sure you have access to guidance at each stage of your journey.

Adviser-Ready Fund Certification

Chant West developed this certification3 with the Financial Advice Association Australia (FAAA) to identify funds that strongly support external financial advisers to do their best work for clients.

If you work with an external financial adviser, Brighter Super provides them with secure access to the tools and information they need to effectively support you.

“It’s a really efficient way for members of Brighter Super who already have an adviser,” explained Mr Fryer. “It makes it much easier – and less expensive – for the adviser to provide advice to their client.”

Only five Australian super funds have achieved Adviser-Ready Fund Certification, including Brighter Super. Of those five, Brighter Super is one of only three traditional industry funds to receive the accreditation.

What these awards mean for you

These three accreditations reinforce Brighter Super’s commitment to helping you access the right guidance whenever you need it. That could be a Super or Retirement Health Check during your accumulation phase, an affordable Retirement Advice Plan at retirement or preservation age, help with a more complex situation, or support for your own financial adviser so they can spend more time on advice and less on administration.

Ms Kay said this independent recognition gives members additional confidence that they’re with a fund committed to supporting them throughout retirement.

“These awards aren’t just recognition of what we’ve achieved. They’re recognition of the experience we want every member to have. We want you to feel supported, informed and confident about your financial future, knowing you can access guidance whenever you need it.”
