Awards just the beginning as Brighter Super primed for 2023

SuperRatings awards 2023

10 February 2023

A successful merger and rebranding to create Brighter Super has been followed by a series of awards for one of Queensland’s top performing super funds.

This year, for the 15th year in a row, SuperRatings has awarded Platinum ratings (the highest possible) to Brighter Super’s Accumulation and Pension products – in the MyChoice Super and Pension categories, respectively.

The awards are backed up by data with Brighter Super named amongst the top five investment performers in the one-year Balanced Fund category for 2022, according to SuperRatings*.

Brighter Super Group CEO Kate Farrar said the awards and Brighter Super’s solid return performance reflected the benefits of the merger for members, which would continue to be delivered in 2023.

“We live our mission everyday – to always be right by the side of our members and this is shown by the awards Brighter Super received for 2023” Ms Farrar said.

“Fees are one of the key criteria by which best value awards are judged when it comes to super ratings,” Ms Farrar said. “Insurance is another key award criteria and we are proud to offer award-winning tailored insurance products for members in the energy and electrical industry”.

In December, Money magazine judged Brighter Super to have the Best Value MySuper Product 2023 and Best Value Income Protection Insurance in Super – Men 2023 in their prestigious ‘Best of the Best’ awards.

“In what was a turbulent year, our performance in 2022 was solid, finishing in fourth place for balanced option one year return,” Ms Farrar said.

Ms Farrar said the Fund would continue to build on its product offerings and services in 2023, and explore new investment opportunities to benefit the energy sector.
“These services include our 40-person strong team of superannuation specialists on the ground, who are constantly connected with energy sector members,” Ms Farrar said.

“We are also looking at additional investments to complement existing assets like the Rye Park Wind Farm, which provide jobs for energy sector members and makes positive returns to their super”.
