Brighter Super cuts costs again, delivering four years of fee reductions

Queensland-based Brighter Super has delivered more than 30 per cent1 in MySuper fees and cost reductions for members over four years and now has the third-lowest MySuper fees2 in Australia.

The latest reductions took effect on 1 October 2026, lowering investment fees and transaction costs across most investment options. This builds on three earlier administration fee reductions made since Brighter Super’s 2022 mergers when it brought together three funds and created greater scale for members.

“A MySuper member with a $50,000 balance now pays around $150 less a year in fees and costs than they did four years ago - a saving of more than 30 per cent1” Brighter Super CEO Kate Farrar said.

“The mergers have helped us deliver greater efficiencies and better value, while continuing to invest in the support members need. With household budgets under pressure, every dollar saved in fees can stay invested for our members’ retirements,” Ms Farrar said

Lower fees are one way Brighter Super helps members make the most of their retirement savings. Its broader retirement support has also been recognised with the 2026/27 Epic Retirement Tick3 for the second consecutive year. The independent assessment highlighted the fund’s competitive administration fees and long-term investment performance among its strengths.

Brighter Super also returned approximately $7.1 million4 to eligible members through administration fee rebates in FY2026, primarily through its $650 administration fee cap and Partner Linking fee rebate.

Partner Linking provides another way for eligible couples to reduce their combined administration fees5. Percentage-based administration fees are calculated across the combined balance of eligible linked accounts, with amounts above the $650 annual cap rebated to eligible members in the following financial year.

Together, the fee cap and Partner Linking reinforce Brighter Super’s focus on keeping fees low and more of members’ money invested for retirement.

From 1 October 2026, investment fees and costs and transaction costs have reduced across a range of investment options, with the largest reduction applying to the Property option.
