Chant West recognition reinforces Brighter Super’s adviser-ready capability

14 July 2026

Independent industry recognition is a useful data point for advisers when assessing superannuation solutions for clients. Brighter Super received three Chant West accreditations in 2025-26, each directly relevant to advisers who recommend or manage super and retirement income products on behalf of clients.

Lisa Kay, Brighter Super’s Chief Member Officer, said, “We’re thrilled to be nationally recognised for our capability across adviser access, service and the operational features that help external advisers support their clients.”

Adviser-Ready Fund Certification

Developed in partnership with the Financial Advice Association Australia (FAAA), this certification1 assesses super funds against 24 operational criteria, with a minimum of 16 required to achieve certification. The criteria directly reflect the practical requirements of advisers managing client super accounts, including:

  • adviser portal access to client account information
  • ability to transact on behalf of clients, including digital signatures and consents
  • capacity to deduct adviser service fees
  • key product features that support tailored advice in relation to super
  • ease of arranging fee deductions and third-party authorities.

Only five Australian super funds have achieved Adviser-Ready Fund Certification, including Brighter Super. Of those, Brighter Super is one of only three non-retail funds to receive the accreditation, alongside retail products MLC MasterKey and CFS FirstChoice. This places Brighter Super in a small cohort of industry funds recognised as meeting adviser-integration standards typically associated with wraps and platforms.

“It’s a really efficient experience for members of Brighter Super who already have an adviser. It makes it much easier and less expensive for that adviser to provide advice to their client,” explained Chant West’s General Manager, Ian Fryer.

Advisers access a secure portal to view detailed account information, run reports, execute transactions and upload documents.

“The portal is only part of the Brighter Super adviser experience,” Ms Kay said. “We also invest in regular adviser training and communication, actively seek adviser feedback to continually improve how advisers work with us, and have a dedicated phone line for advisers.”

Best Fund: Advice Services 2026

After three consecutive years as a finalist, Brighter Super took out the Best Fund: Advice Services2 category at the 2026 Chant West Super Fund Awards on 27 May.

Ian Fryer explained Chant West’s assessment approach: “This year, we focused on advice at the point of retirement, and funds that provided advice to members with needs ranging from simple to really complex. Brighter Super does this well and in a cost-effective way.”

Ms Kay said the award recognised Brighter Super’s ongoing investment in adviser support.

“That includes helping members access the right level of advice, giving advisers efficient online access to client information and transactions, and continuing to invest in training and feedback so we keep improving the adviser experience.”

Epic Retirement Tick

In 2025, Brighter Super was one of only six Australian super funds to receive Chant West’s Epic Retirement Tick3. This designation assesses whether a fund actively supports members through the retirement phase, not simply during accumulation.

Each fund is evaluated on a range of criteria including its:

  • retirement income strategy and supporting investment options
  • access to personalised advice at and throughout retirement
  • member communications and tools specific to the retirement phase
  • responsiveness to the changing needs of members post-retirement.

Ian Fryer said the designation recognises Brighter Super’s operational capability: “A lot of funds don’t provide this advice; Brighter Super does, and it’s nimble. It’s also introduced a lot of really good changes to product and services in the past few years that are very helpful to members.”

The Epic Retirement Tick provides independent recognition of Brighter Super's capability to support members as they transition into and through retirement.

What this means for advisers

These three accreditations point to Brighter Super’s capability in the areas that matter in client service: adviser access, advice support and retirement readiness.

For advisers already recommending Brighter Super, they provide useful supporting evidence when documenting the basis for product recommendations under the Best Interests Duty.

For advisers yet to place clients with Brighter Super, the combination of accreditations, particularly the Adviser-Ready Fund certification, may warrant consideration as part of product research and due diligence.
