Acquired through the Lighthouse Infrastructure Fund Trust (LFT), The Mews Apartments, which opened in Woolloongabba in November, includes 10 specialist disability accommodation (SDA) apartments that meet the high physical support requirements under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). These apartments also exceed Livable Housing Australia’s ‘platinum’ design benchmark.
The one-bedroom SDA apartments include assistive and communication technology, 24/7 disability support, emergency power in the event of a blackout, and structural provisions for ceiling hoists.

“Developments like The Mews Apartments provide such vital infrastructure in our community,” Ms Farrar said.
“Not only does The Mews provide essential specialist disability accommodation for people who need physical support, but co-locating SDA residents with the wider community helps reduce stigma and ensures those with support needs do not feel marginalised.”
